I create vessels – forms with roots in the classic past – that touch our innermost feelings. Ceramics, one of humankind’s oldest crafts becomes a medium for today’s modern tastes.

It all starts on the potter’s wheel, getting the right shape. Patterns and design follow from shape. Color is carefully selected to complement the shape and design. Every subtle tone must feel at home among the gentle curves. I apply up to 8 layers of each color with an airbrush. I then hand-paint clear glaze, which must be just right, to produce a very glassy finish. Each piece is fired 3–4 times.

I cannot remember a time when I was not making ceramic pieces. I hold a BFA degree in ceramics and design from Denver University and have been exhibiting my work around the country for over 30 years.

Dimensions vary by piece, minimum size: 5 in. w x 5 in. h. Pieces are priced at $150 and up, depending on the size of the vessel.
